How to treat a gross toenail fungus?

So my mom has a gross thing with her toes.. eghh!


Anyways her toenails grow out, then they peal off and its been happening for like 5 years, she has gone to the doctor but they didnt really help. Is there a topical thing she can put on to help? She hates taking pills soo yeah..
