Toenail fungus- Should I buy medications of go to the doctor.?

What would they do at the doctor?Toenail fungus- Should I buy medications of go to the doctor.?
Really depends upon how bad the toenail fungus is. Over the counters don't typically work on toenails as they can't penetrate the nail very well. So, generally you'd go to a doc for this, especially if it was bad.

At the doctors you have a couple of options.

1. You could take an oral prescription only medication that would get to the root of the problem, but they would check your liver first (simple blood test) as it can cause problems... if you and you're liver are generally healthy, shouldn't be a problem.

2. If you don't want to or cannot take the oral medicine, then there is a type of clear nail polish that you can put on each day for a year... not a hundred percent sure, but I've heard that in practice, this only works on about half the people that use it.

Good luck!

Does anyone know how to get rid of toenail fungus?

Futspa

A natural product called Futspa is available for treating the toenail fungus. This product is a solution that can be applied on the affected nail. The solution contains natural essential oils that are effective against the fungus. One such essential oil is the Tea tree oil. This is one of the main ingredients of Futspa. Lavender oil and thyme are also included in this product. Such products are safe to use and are also inexpensive.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil can also be used individually on the nail that is affected by the toenail fungus. Tea tree oil can be purchased from the herbal stores. Tea tree oil is a natural anti fungal and anti bacterial agent and hence this is used in most of the natural products to fight the fungus.

Vinegar

Application of vinegar over the infection is also found to be one of the natural remedies for nail fungus. It is found that the infection may reappear after sometime if you use vinegar. Another way of curing is to use a mixture of water and the apple cider vinegar in equal proportions and soak your feet in that solution. This is found to be effective in some persons.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Applying hydrogen peroxide on the infected area is also found to help the cells of the nail to grow again. You can use a cotton ball to apply hydrogen peroxide in the infected area. Another treatment that can be used is to soak your feet in a solution of water, lavender oil, and apple cider vinegar. You need to soak your feet for at least half an hour daily in this solution to get the desired effect.

Decolorized Iodine

You can also use decolorized iodine for treating nail fungus. Apply some tea tree oil over the infected nail and then apply iodine using a q-tip. Olive leaf extract is another natural remedy for treating the toenail fungus. Try using Olive leaf extract.

Oil of Oregano

Oil of Oregano can also be applied to your infected nail using a Q-tip. This has to be applied daily in the morning and the evening. This application has destroyed the fungus and your nail grows again. This treatment might take several months before you get the desired result.

Most of the natural treatments for the toenail infections take several months to get the desired effect. Hence, you need patience you are adopting the natural treatments for the toenail infections.Does anyone know how to get rid of toenail fungus?
You will experience a reduction in your toenail fungus when you cut out simple carbs, add more protein and take oral anti-fungals such as caprylic acid or grapefruit seed oil. It takes months to really have a noticeable effect.

Vicks Vaporub

Yeah, go to Walmart. They have this liquid solution in a small bottle that you apply on your toenails in the foot care section. There are a couple of them in that area so just check them out and select the one that is affordable for you.
Natural....tea tree oil, put a band aid over it for 30 days

Regular: by clortrimizole (athletes foot section), but it on toe, cover in band aid for 30 days.

Those are the only two ways that have ever worked for me. I will never get a pedicure again. That's how I got the fungus. EW!
If it's a fungus, it's under the nail bed and something that you paint on isn't going to help. The nails are impermeable, so you will have to get an antibiotic from your doctor to kill the fungus from the inside. Simply painting medicine on your nails won't help, because the nail won't let it seep under the nail and into the nail bed.
My husband cured his by rubbing Vicks on his toenail every night. It took a while but now he has a normal toenail.
I got rid of mine with that stuff from the health food store called, ';Nail Saver';. I supplemented by about 50% with Tea Tree Oil.

First, get some clippers and cut away all the ';funk'; that you can. Try to scrape off as much of the yucky white/yellow stuff that you can, then just saturate the area with the 50/50 mix.

It works better if you can keep the nail ';wet'; a good percentage of the time. Be careful with this, but what I did was after applying the goop, I would wrap the toe in plastic wrap and secure it in place with scotch tape. IMPORTANT: Do not restrict circulation to your toe! You only want the tape to keep the plastic on, and nothing more.

I'd wear the plastic wrap for about half the day, most days.

Don't believe what they say about the toenail being impermeable. It isn't. Especially when you're carrying the medication through the nail with a solvent like Tea Tree Oil.

It may take a long time, maybe six months to beat the fungus. It's tough stuff. You might have to kill it a couple of times, because it might come back after you think you have it licked. My experience is that every time you beat it back, it seems to lose some of it's spunk on the next round.

Good luck.
There is an oral medication which gets rid of the fungus when nothing else will. Your doctor has to prescribe it.
Quit pissing in the shower.
1)Vicks Vapo Rub really works directly applied to the nails.

2)Soaking your feet in diluted Clorox works too and very fast.

You're not going to believe this but I heard that if you rub Vicks Vaporub on them, that does the trick. Wow! Consumer Reports seems to say it helps.

Hello there, does anyone know about a good medicine or polish that can make my bad toenail fungus go away? i?

i really want to get it treated without oral medication. please help me thanxs!!Hello there, does anyone know about a good medicine or polish that can make my bad toenail fungus go away? i?

There isn't anything that will cure it, but if you clean them with a cotton bud soaked in apple cider vinegar every morning and evening, it will keep it under control enough that you can wear sandals. If you miss one time though, it will get worse immediately.
tea tree is anti-fungal. But you may want to go to a health store in your town and ask a nutritionalist for something that can help.

Has anyone ever heard of using Melafix to treat toenail fungus?

I don't trust those new medications that put your health at risk. I too suffer the same malady and treat it the old fashioned way of using hot water and plain laundry bleach to soak my feet in. After about thirty minutes, I then rinse my feet and pat dry.

Home remedies for toenail fungus?

I would like to know if has someone tried '; Loceryl lacquer '; for toenail fungus.

Does it helps ? When did you started see the results or changes?Has anyone used '; Loceryl lacquer '; for toenail fungus?
I've been using Loceryl for about 2 or more years now.

Sadly, I have not seen improvement as yet. There are no quick remedies, and nail fungus is not a quickly healed condition, and it may require long-term treatment.Has anyone used '; Loceryl lacquer '; for toenail fungus?
I used it a few years ago, helped alot but it came with a warning not to use for long periods of time so I gave up. I saw results after about a month.

I don't think there is a long term cure.
You sound like my kinda girl. How about a date :)

I had my big toenail permanently removed because of nail fungus. Can a fake toenail be applied to the skin?

I had it permanently removed because I had it removed once before and it grew back the same way. I did not want to take the chance of it growing back infected again, so I had it removed permanently. I want to put a fake toenail on top of the skin because I hate the way it looks. I want to wear sandals and not be embarrassed by it.I had my big toenail permanently removed because of nail fungus. Can a fake toenail be applied to the skin?
not a good idea, the glue required to adhere the nail to the skin would cause serious skin breakdown after a very short time. If you are so self conscious about your toes, everyone else will be too, if you don't pay attention to it, neither will anyone else. Seriously, do you go around looking at other people's feet? Others don't go around checking out feet either, unless you draw attention to it, no one will likely notice it at all.I had my big toenail permanently removed because of nail fungus. Can a fake toenail be applied to the skin?
Interesting question as I have the same problem. And I too have tried to think of ways to alter the appearance of missing toenails (s) for me.

all in all the answer is no. i remember quite well the doc. asking one last time, ';are you sure you wanna go ahead and remove it permanently?';.

I said yes..cuz I couldn't stand the pain of it anymore.

well, here I am today, like you.

No people don't go around looking at our toes, but believe me, I have had many pp notice!!

unfortunately, we are just screwed on this. I have actually put a thin coat of polish on the skin before,.

But I find if I don't paint my toes, there is less attention brought to them

    anti-fungal soap.
You will have to get a prescription, I used the product called Penlac and it looks like clear nail polish that you paint your nails with every night. It will take few months to get rid of it completely, as toenails grow rather slowly. If that does not seem to work, you may need Lamisil which is a prescription pill.
im not sure if this works or not, but i read that putting vicks on your nails will help. cant hurt to try it.

Someone told me that Ben-gay was good for toenail fungus. You are smart to stay away from stuff like lamisel. It takes months for that stuff to work. use tea tree oil in affected area
I went surfing and found several suggestions. The site listed below had a lot of home remediesfor a variety of things.

These are directly from the site:

Toe nail fungus remedy using tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic and fungicide that will help fight your fungus. Apply undiluted tea tree oil with olive oil to the affected toe nail. Alternatively you can put few drops of tea tree oil on toenails and rub it thoroughly every day.

    Using Listerine mouthwash

Soak your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toe nails looking healthy.

Curing toe nail fungus using warm water and natural apple cider vinegar

Soak your toenails for 15 - 20 minutes in basin full of warm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal proportion. When done, dry your toenails thoroughly. Use a hair dryer on warm setting to absorb all the moisture in and around the toes

Tea tree oil and Lavender oil

Put equal amount of tea tree oil and lavender oil on a cotton ball or swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. Tea tree oil is natural antibiotic and lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation

    Using Oregano and Olive oil

Blend 2 drops of Oregano essential oil with a tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture on the affected area daily for NOT more than three weeks. Oregano essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitical, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties

    AHA creams

Lather AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) creams on to your feet before going to bed. This will flush the rough scaly skin from your feet that is more prone to growing fungus

Hope one of these works. The article also had suggestions for prevention of fungus.
Go to wal-mart,walgreens,cvs,where ever you choose to shop, and look in the foot care isle(wal-mart/by pharmcy) and look or ask the pharmicist for advice. Or call your doctor and ask for advice(let her know you don't want to take lamisel.) If over the counter products don't work you will probibly need a presp.
I haven't tried this, but it's supposed to work. First, you take a nail file and file the entire nail, not just the tip. Then you take a clove of galic, smash it up and rub it on your nail. Without washing the garlic off, put clear nail polish over it and leave it there for a couple of days. Take it off and repeat the process until the fungus is gone. If it works, let me know.

My mother had luck with Vicks' Vapo-Rub to finally clear up her tonebail fungus after trying several other remedies. :)
soak your toe in listerine. use the original not mint.

i used it and it started working, but i never had time to sit and soak my toe so i gave up. if you find a cure that works will you let me know.
Try a yeast infection cream, like monistat. It is a strong anti fungal, and can help it out. Also, try to keep the area dry and air it out often.
And old ';kitchen witch'; remedy would be to soak it nightly in hydrogen peroxide.

However, my old teacher once soaked his foot for a couple of hours in a bleach/water combination (1:1) and it cleaned ';everything'; up... Though, he was a tough old biscuit, so I doubt he would be bothered by anything for long, anyways.
I haven't had any personal experience with this but my mother in law swears by it---she soaked her feet in bleach for 10 to 15 minutes then repeated the process a few days later. She had tried several over the counter remedies as well as oral Rxs with no success so she figured this was worth a try. I don't know where she got this info from, so I would be cautious as I'm not sure of the different types of fungus or what they will respond to.
No. I am a medical doctor. When the fungal infection involve hair follicles, fingernails or toenails, topical anti-fungal cream is not effective. The cream does not pentrate far enough to the nail to be effective. For these infections you need to take an anti-fugal medication by mouth.

BTW, you will need a doctor's prescription since the medication is not available over the counter.

Does using Vicks really work for curing Toenail fungus?

No, you need to take an oral dose on an antifungal like ketoconazole or some other antifungal available through your doctor. Vicks does not contain the necessary ingredients.Does using Vicks really work for curing Toenail fungus?

    Fungi are treatable.

Besides, I prefer painted toenails. Maybe you should get some polish.

    How dangerous is toenail fungus?

Dangerous? It's more irritating than anything, but as far as causing serious health problems I seriously doubt that it does. The reason I think this is that I've suffered from the nasty toenail fungus for twenty years, and my father has had it for forty to fifty years and he's now seventy two. You're actually at more risk from the drugs you take to get rid of it. I've tried it all and suffered, believe me. One prescription gave me severe diarrhea, stomach cramps and dry mouth for weeks before I finally decided to just live with the fungus instead of being miserable all the time. It's just embarrassing when someone sees how nasty your toenails are. Always having to hide them, keep them out of sight. Dangerous...? No. Disgusting and Embarrassing? Yes.How dangerous is toenail fungus?
Could cause infection of the entire body. Lose of toes, feet and leg. Death, septic poisoning, gangrene and other body function problems. Treat it ASAP. 99.99% of the time not a real problem....but don't take a chance. see your podiatrist or family doctor. TaggerHow dangerous is toenail fungus?
marty - An infection of toenail fungus occurs when fungi infect one or more of your nails. A nail fungal infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges 鈥?an unsightly and potentially painful problem.

These infections usually develop on nails continually exposed to warm, moist environments, such as sweaty shoes or shower floors. Nail fungus isn't the same as athlete's foot, which primarily affects the skin of the feet, but at times the two may coexist and can be caused by the same type of fungus.

An infection with nail fungus may be difficult to treat, and infections may recur. But medications are available to help clear up nail fungus.
I've read that in some cases, it is actually fatal. I've had it for years in my big toes and do my best to treat it by clipping close and medicating it. There are also pills you can take but they haven't yet worked for me. Many people just have their toenails removed and then keep the nail bed clean while they grow back. A surefire solution, but it scares me. Keep an eye on them and get them treated whatever you do. Toenail fungus is nothing to mess with.

Help, help, I need to fix my toenails before summer hits. How can I cure toenail fungus??

Lamisil. Either the pills or the ointment. Or, if you want a cheaper way (and no doctor), rub Vapo-Rub into the toenails. Doctors don't even know why it works, but it does!Help, help, I need to fix my toenails before summer hits. How can I cure toenail fungus??
Toenail fungus is very very hard to cure completely and it takes a looooooooong time.

MY mom has it and has been using a cream that is for athletes foot, a doctor prescribed it and he says that all the pills other doctor prescribe for this, can badly affect your liver and other parts of teh body.

The thing is that I live in Mexico and I don麓t know if this cream exists there but it麓s name is tinaderm and the composition is Tolnaftate, I guess you can find it by that name.

You gotta be constant though and apply it 2 times a day after washing and wiping dry your feet. Even if you don麓t notice any changes at first you gotta keep using it, my mom is really getting rid of it but it takes up to 5-6 months. Sorry for the bad english,Good luck and give it a try!!!!.

I understand your condition but I would not risk, I mean NOT risk putting any kind of toe nail polish on if you are a guy. The last thing you need is other curious guys that happen to want to check your feet out (it happens) and then you will be the talk of the school. Do you want that?

You need to clear this condition up before it keeps bothering you so you can have piece of mind.

For now, buy a bottle of Tea Tree Oil. You can get it in mostly any pharmacy. Like CVS, Walgreens, Riteaid, etc. Rub it on all of your toenails before your swim class.

I will tell you that I had toenail discoloration from nail polish and when I rubbed this oil on in the morning, it actually made my nails appear clear the whole day. Please try it. It will help them appear clearer.
i don't know about the nail polish but if you want to get rid of the fungus, try this. It really works! I got a pair of vinyl gloves and cut off a finger (or thumb, depending on the size of your toe. Get some Vicks Vaporub. I swear,. it really works. At night or when you're home for the night, slather your toe with Vicks. Pull the glove finger over the toe. It should make a good snug fit so that it won't fall off. Do this every night for at least a couple of weeks. I used clippers to cut through the extra growth and get rid of it. Not too deep--it did not hurt at all. Within a month, I would say, my toenail fungus was completely cleared up. Good luck!
An alturnitive to nail polish is makeup... though it may come off. Find a waterproof foundation in your skincolor. (I would test it out just to be shure it's waterproof.) I wouldn't do nail polish though because it's gunna be shiny...
I really don't think anyone will notice. I know someone who he I'd fungus and I didn't even notice until he told me. You will notice your flaws but no one else even knows. I umderstand that u feel this way but I don't think that its really that bad... But a skin tone would be fine...
go to a nail salon and ask for what you need.

How do you get rid of toenail fungus?

You have 2 options and both involve going to the doctor. First option: Go to the doc and get an Rx for medication that is specifically for the treatment of onychomycosis (nail fungus), You'll be on these pills for at least 3 months and will require regular blood work to make sure the medicine doesn't mess up your liver. Even if the nail fungus goes away, there is no guarantee that it won't come back Second option: Go to a podiatrist and have the nails removed. Again, if the nails grow back the nail fungus may return. You can request that the doc remove the nails and destroy the nail bed, then the nail won't grow back and if you have no nail you will have no nail fungus. How do you get rid of toenail fungus?
the only way to completely get rid of the toenail fungus is go to your Dr. and get a prescription. the over the counter creams they sell do not get rid of the fungus. i believe the pill they prescribe is Lamasil. it does really work. How do you get rid of toenail fungus?
see your doctor so he can prescribe you some antifungals. they come in liquid, cream, and even tablets.

What department of the hospital would i go to ask about toenail fungus?

My brother had that on his toenail and his normal doctor suggested him to go see a dermatologist. They deal with nails, hair, and skin and they are trained experts on fungus related topics.

Podiatry is most to do with foot pain and injuries. What department of the hospital would i go to ask about toenail fungus?
I hope you don't go to my department. EWWWW!!

I don't work at Kaiser though, so no worries.

And the answer is podiatry. What department of the hospital would i go to ask about toenail fungus?
    check out WebMD first
You need to see the podiatrist. No need to go to the hospital, any podiatrist who accepts your insurance would do.
I'd first go to my regular family doctor.

Many insurance plans won't pay for a specialist unless you are referred by you primary care provider. Specialist are usually more expensive, and have higher copay.

And your primary care doctor may be able to prescribe exactly what you need.

My husband has a toenail fungus infection, any remedies? we cant afford the price of stuff in the chemists.?

Any help would be much appreciated. My husband has a toenail fungus infection, any remedies? we cant afford the price of stuff in the chemists.?
Try soaking his toes in a hot bucket of some sort and add epsom salt, baking soda, lemon juice and sea salt into the bucket of hot water and just sit there until the water turns cold. The epsom salt will pull unwanted toxins out of the infected area, the baking soda is a water softner, the sea salt removes dead skins cells, and the lemon juice will clean and wighten the toenailMy husband has a toenail fungus infection, any remedies? we cant afford the price of stuff in the chemists.?
dilute some bleach in a bucket and soak the toe. Cut the nail down as far as possible. This might help. probably won't. Or else try looking for stuff like lotrimin in the drug store and try that. I know this is hard to get rid of....

I mention the bleach because that is what I used to do with dogs when their paws got nasty - my vet told me to do it and it worked...might as well try it.

Bleach kills fungus - but make sure to dilute it a lot.
Only useful options are either topical antifungal lacquer or oral antifungals. Both need to be used for considerable periods. Go see your GP and he will prescribe them which will be much cheaper.
Going to see your doctor is the best thing to do he will prescibe the right medication for it, if you dont have that much money you should be able to get free presciptions.
Not being funny but Scholl spray is the price of a couple of beers or cigs or going without one non necessity.

Question for people with Toenail Fungus?

What made you first notice it. What were the symptoms you saw?

How long does it take to progress to get real bad?Question for people with Toenail Fungus?
Yellowing was my first symptom. Then the thickening. After that was the curling under phase which really hurts. I kept treating mine and working with them. It finally went away but it took years.Question for people with Toenail Fungus?
    Good evening,

My humble opinions. The root of your toenail fungus is in your intestines and colon, mucus and fungus build up. reach out and can help. A very QUICK fix thats no joke, before you go to sleep, simple Vicks Vaporub, rub all over toes and feet, cover with socks carfeully as to not wipe off, sleep well, in morning youll see very good results, continue about 4 nights straight and youll see dramtaic improvement, youll feel tingly heat type sensations, dont worry this is natural reaction to Vicks against bacteria, do this everytime it starts to show up again, however the root as I said, in the intestines, need to do a cleanse. I can be reached by my yahoo nick.
I noticed a light discoloration at the outer edge of the toenail. It slowly extended back toward the root of the toenail over a 5 (or more) month period. Then slowly, the nail began thickening. Total time was at least a year.
Yellow nails , shipping of the nails lamisal is what I had to take but your doctor will give you a liver test to make sure your fine befor giving you the pills !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Hi

the first symptoms are a slight distortion of the nail. You may discover the ends of the nail are turning a white or yellow color. There may alos be some foul smelling debris under the nail.

What you must do now is act fast to avoid the nail detorioating and even spreading to other nails.

Do i need to see a podiatrist or a general doctor for toenail fungus?

There is a great cure for toenail fungus that doesn't require a prescription, doesn't cause liver problems like the pill does, and is really cheap. Buy some Vicks Vapor Rub and put it on your toenails twice a day. This works just as well as the expensive pill that doctor's now prescribe. (Bleach doesn't work and can cause burns). Try it. It can't hurt you. You can always get the expensive stuff later if it doesn't work (but it will).Do i need to see a podiatrist or a general doctor for toenail fungus?
Any general practitioner should be able to help you with medication to clear it up. Good luck!Do i need to see a podiatrist or a general doctor for toenail fungus?
I agree with Margie. I've seen many patients use Vicks Vapor Rub on their toenails for fungus and it worked! It's amazing what some things can do. It's much cheaper than most of the other remedies out there.
I had a toenail fungus and I went to my regular doctor. He was able to help me. Good luck and don't wait to long.
No soak your feet in a bleach water solution..Cut your toenails short and keep them dry and clean... 50-50 solution vinegar is good also ..You would need an organic apple cider vinegar..
    no,

just go to your pharmacy/chemist and they should be able to recommend something for you on the spot...

  • What is the fastest way to remove fungus from your toenail ?

Getting rid of finger nail fungus is easier in some ways, and more difficult in others. Many people will act on a finger nail infection long before they will start asking how to get rid of toe nail fungus, simply because toes can be kept out of sight, but ugly fingernails are a daily embarrassment. People start getting rid of finger nail fungus before the infection is too far advanced. However, it's much harder to get a topical treatment to stay on a fingernail when you鈥檙e using your hands all the time, and it's much harder to sit for 15 to 30 minutes every day with your hands soaking in a solution.

Pick any method for getting rid of finger nail fungus, or any advice on how to get rid of toe nail fungus. If you do any reading, you will quickly discover that all methods are fickle. VapoRub works for some and not for others. Stories of success with a vinegar soak abound; so do stories of failure. Some lucky people report success in weeks; some stress that you may have to keep at it for a year or more. Even the prescription medications have a relatively poor success rate. The bottom line is that curing nail fungus infection is difficult.

for me and my husband worked very well ZetaClear! I think it is the fastest way to get rid of fungus! Nail fungus is tough to treat. The extracts in Zetaclear provide the most powerful therapeutic effect for healthy looking nails.

Obviously, you can't spray herbicide on your feet or hands! The next best thing is Zetaclear. It's made from all-natural homeopathic ingredients. This product works time after time and results are guaranteed. This extra strength solution is designed to be as aggressive and strong as possible, without causing irritation.

It worked fast and still works for me and my husband!

I have toenail fungus and I have to swim for p.e next week and i am going to cover it up with nail polish?

i am self concious about my fungus i have fungus on both my big toes and i dont wanna use nail polish but we are not allowed to use bandaids or water shoes, several people recommended i use nail polish to match my skin color or normal nail color what color should i use? is there a nail polish color i can use that wont look like i put on nail polish?I have toenail fungus and I have to swim for p.e next week and i am going to cover it up with nail polish?
Pale pink or beige should work. Remove it whenever you can, and coat the nails with Vicks Vapo-rub or Campho-fenique. The camphor and menthol help get rid of the fungus, although it takes awhile. But there are no side effects, as there are when you take the pills that cure fungus.I have toenail fungus and I have to swim for p.e next week and i am going to cover it up with nail polish?
Have you seen a doctor about this? You should go black and tell your friends it was a dare. Pale pink or beige would just leave everybody laughing behind your back.

Best way to cure toenail fungus?

Ok so like a few months ago i caught toenail fungus somehow on my pinky toe but now it spread to another toenail and then my other pinky toe and the toenail next to it how can i cure/prevent this. I shower everyday, wash my feet everyday i dont know how i could have gotten this.Best way to cure toenail fungus?
try peroxide. just pour it over your fungus toes. my husband has suffered for years and found out about this and it worked. good luckBest way to cure toenail fungus?
I have had several toenails so tainted, now only have one with a continuing problem (and it's much better).

I took an accupressure class from an oriental instructor. His words of wisdom to deal with fungal nails is to soak them in apple cider vinegar 20 minutes in the evening, after bathing. He said it takes a long time...usually a year...to clear it out.

Soaking the feet in fresh vinegar every night for a year adds up to a lot of vinegar. So I cut paper towels into 2'; squares and place them in a jar of vinegar. In the evening, after my bath, I tuck a square around each of my problem toes (now down to one). I leave them in place for as long as an hour, but a minimum of the 20 minutes Tao had recommended. I keep a towel under my foot to keep from dripping the vinegar all over. It works for me.

My two cents worth on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) ...it might work. Don't use it straight, it's too harsh on your skin. Water is H2O, you know, so peroxide is water with an extra oxygen molecule. Oxygen is an incredibe disinfectant and would certainly kill off fungus. That extra oxygen molecule also kills skin cells...so dilute it at least 1:1.
Well its very contagious so it easy to pick it up from someone. By using a clipper from someone used that had the fungus is a way many people catch it. To treat it alternatively you can use oregano oil, just a drop on the toe nail every nite.
Peroxide, oregano oil all good, also you can try teatree oil dabbed on or soaked into band aid and put over the toe for long continuing application.
Most toenail fungus requires medications to cure and to prevent from coming back. I suggest you go to a podiatrist.
You need to get lamisil pills for that, or the generic equivalent.
I have had the same problem and have used a lot of stuff...my most effective med was Nonyx and it takes a while but works...follow the directions tho....good luck ...

Yes it really does work but you won't see any sign of results for 3-4 weeks and you have to keep using it for several months to be fully cured.

Best bet is to see your Doctor and possibly get it on prescription. ( or something equally as good or better )

I have a black fungus on my toenail. How did I get it and how to cure it?

Go to a dermitoligist as soon as possible. You could go to a drug store and ask the pharmisist but I sugest going to a dermitologist.

Good luckI have a black fungus on my toenail. How did I get it and how to cure it?
I wouldn't use medicine. They are toxic and not natural. Try tea tree oil or oil of oregano, Pau D Arco or garlic poultices. It will depend how consistent you are with treatment for healing time. You will know when it is getting better. If you got this at a gym or something that means that your immune system is not as strong as it should be.
There is medication for fungus under you toenail. It will take months to get rid of it and you do need to see a Dr to get a prescription and then have lab test from time to time. The is no over the counter medicine that works for fungus infections in your toenails - Lamisil is the name of the drug.
go to the doc and find out what it is and how to treat it

it could be a number of things
RUN, don't walk! to the nearest foot doctor who is qualified to do surgery. (Podiatrist) A black ';fungus'; could be cancerous. My brother in law had what he thought was balck dirt under his thumbnail. He subsequently lost his thumb to cancer and later died when the cancer aggressively metastasized. Don't take any chances with home remedys, until you have a firm diagnosis of this condition. Life's too precious!
Soak your feet in some warm water with tea tree oil added. Also try applying the tea tree oil while you sleep. Put some on a cotton pad and tape it to your toe. Tea tree is anti-fungal and that should take it away.

    http://www.angelic1healing.com
A relative just recently told me she keeps a little bottle of bleach in her bathroom and a couple times a week she uses a cotton swab to brush it over her toenails. She said it keeps fungus from starting and also keeps them from yellowing.
It is most likely a fungus. If it is just the toenail involved you can try tea tree oil every night and morning. Takes a while to clear. also, you may want to look on nutrition express website and order oregano oil. It is an antifungal that you take internally. I can't tell you how long it takes to clear or where you got it but, I do know the medications they give you at the Dr. can harm the liver and would make sure they checked my liver function with a blood test after taking it for a while. So, it's really up to you. You also need to keep the feet clean, soak in warm salt water and dry well. use the oregano and tea tree oil diligently. Or go to the Dr. If there is any chance that the tor is involved go to DR. ASAP, you could be dealing with more than a fungus. OK? good luck.

Believe it or not....I tried it and it works.....Put Vicks Vapor Rub on the toe and underneath the nail with a Q-tip....do this several times a day...everytime you think about it....go barefooted so that your toes get air.....Not sure how long this may take... a month or two....but, in time....it will cure the fungus. Also, you need to make sure that when you shower.....dry your toes and feet well.....Does anyone have a successful remedy for BAD toenail fungus?
Were pure 100% cotton, wool, or silk socks are the best to wear because they absorb moisture from your feet (from sweating) and provide good ventilation. The best shoes to wear are those that allow plenty of air and moisture exchange. Look for air-breather holes on the sides, natural materials (plastic shoes do not allow air and moisture to pass through), and a comfortable fit. Try Tea Tree Oil, Lavender massage oil, and Thyme.

Tea Tree oil (antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-viral, germicidal),

    Lavender (antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal)

    Thyme (anti-bacterial and anti-fungal)

Have you used Lamisil for toenail fungus?

I'm part way through this very pricey prescription. It seems to be working...slowly. My podiatrist said that many times it doesn't even work, and you just have to live with it. Has anyone been totally successful in banishing toenail fungus forever?Have you used Lamisil for toenail fungus?
I had toenail fungus treated about 10 years ago and it has not come back. These medications do work, however, take a long time to work as the fungus is imbedded into the nail bed where the nail grows. The fungus is also incorporated into the matrix of the nail and needs to grow out.

Usually a course of treatment is to take it for 1 week for the month for 4 months or taking it continuously for 12 weeks. Make sure you have your liver function monitored as there are sometimes side effects.

Can you tell me a cure for toenail fungus that works besides taking medications?

Certainly can, Pure aloe, not the stuff from the health food shop as that is too week, e mail me and I can send you some products free of charge, propolis cream, you will need an aloe drink they really are amazing, and if you choose to purchase more there is a money back garentee.

Would you really want to? That's pretty nasty. And if they dont' clean their tools - and let's face it, they don't - then you could leave with VEEERY serious problems. To clear up your fungus, apply Vicks vapor rub to your feet nightly, or more often if you can.Can you get a pedicure at a nail salon if you have a toenail fungus on one of your toes?
I don't think so. Do you wanna share your fungus with everybody?? Besides, who would like to get them??

You'd better get your feet cleaned up by using a special cream (with ketoconazol or myconazol = conazol or lotrimin) or oral medication.

Should I get my toenail fungus treated?

I am debating. It looks gross. But I have heard sme ad stuff about the medication. My fiance doesn't really care either way, he says he doesn't pay attention to feet as long as i have a pair.

Is it OK to just let it go?Should I get my toenail fungus treated?
I wouldn't just let it go, you might wanna get it checked out just in-case it gets worse. If it starts hurting or starts to change colors on you, then I strongly advice that you get it checked out.Should I get my toenail fungus treated?
3 or 4 months of doctor visits, blood monitoring, liver damage and all that expense with Lamisil and prescription medications? Toe nail fungus is contagious, it will spread to your other toes if left untreated. Eventually your fiance will get it too, then he will care!

The simplest, easiest, and least expensive way to take care of it is detailed in the following video and ebook links.
Toenail fungus is a health condition, not just a cosmetic nuisance. It will continue to spread back and forth across your nail until it reaches the cuticle, and then you'll lose your nail which will be painful. Home remedies don't work, so don't waste your time. You need a prescription from the doctor for Lamisil. You'll have to take it for 3 months. It's one of the $4 prescriptions offered at Walmart or Sams Club. I've taken it and had no side effects.
Its up to you but dont listen to some of the random stuff ppl are saying on here, I had it and the ONLY cure is the lamisil tablets you need to take for 3 months. They take a blood test to make sure your liver is strong enough to take it at first bc it could harm it. I havent had any side effects. luckily most insurances cover it and it is cheap now bc the patent just ran out. good luck!
Toenail fungus is actually very contagious. You should get it treated, usually they will prescribe you a topical medication, or a home remedie would be to treat it with straight bleach. Just soak your toes in it and rinse well.
gross, your fiance don't care that you have feet fungus. WOW. weight the pros and cons. If you can live with feet fungus and dont want to risk it then dont get it treated but if its somthing you must do then go for it if taking the meds isnt too risky for you.,
Well, you can get it treated but I hear it costs a lot. However I don't think it will hurt you if you don't get it treated. Tip: to avoid grosness paint you toenailes.
I would totally get it treated.

Are you walking around the office barefoot? If not, then don't worry about your coworker. Tea Tree Oil.

You can get this at any health food store and also check with local pharmacy.

    1. First, you need to cut your nails really short so that the tea tree oil can come in contact with the fungus.

    2. Then, each morning and evening, wash your feet with tea tree soap. Dry your feet, and then apply a few drops of tea tree oil to those toes that have the fungus. Use a cotton swab to apply.

    3. Over the next four weeks, the fungus should be killed by the treatment

A really serious case of fungus, use a bleach solution, but the tea tree oil should do the trick.

How can I get rid of white nail fungus underneath my toenail?

I switched nail salons, and after my last pedicure I notice white nail fungus growing underneath my right toenail.

How can I get rid of this? Any homeopathic or over the counter remedies? How can I get rid of white nail fungus underneath my toenail?
There are homeopathic self-help remedies available over-the-counter (approved by the FDA) to use for first-aid and acute care problems. An acute health problem is something that comes on quickly, lasts a short time, and resolves - like a cold, flu, cough, or even PMS as an acute ';exacerbation'; of a chronic problem.

Toenail fungus is a ';constitutional'; health problem, for which you would need to consult with a classical homeopath. We sit with new clients for 1-2 hours to go through current symptoms (for example, perhaps you also have headaches, or backaches, or menstrual cramps), past health history, family health history, life situation, and general symptoms - like response to weather, sleep patterns, food preferences, etc. From that we research to find a remedy that will restore deep inner harmony to your organism, facilitating healing from the inside-out (where it begins, contrary to appearances).

http://www.homeopathicdirectory.com is the national directory for any homeopath certified in N. America. Around the world, you'd have to be sure a homeopath has similar qualifications. Because it's so readily available, people misunderstand what homeopathy is. Even practitioners who claim to offer homeopathy often have a consumer-level awareness. Look for someone certified whose practice is 100% classical homeopathy - no acupuncture, kinesiology (muscle testing), etc.

It might spontaneously resolve if you're otherwise in good health. If not, though, and other toenails become involved, think about calling a homeopath. How can I get rid of white nail fungus underneath my toenail?
Try smearing it with Vicks Vapo Rub at night and wearing a sock to bed. I must admit that I've never tried this, but have read about it and people swear by it.

Could Toenail Fungus cause Athletes Foot? And how to get rid of?

My toenails are yellow half way. And my pinky toe nails are thick and yellow.

I would like to know if they could cause athletes foot?

Especially if I cut them off as much as I can to try and get rid of the fungus?

I don't have athletes foot but I'm afraid of getting it.

I thought I had it but after a skin scraping it was only dry peeling skin.

I appreciate any answers I get- thank you!Could Toenail Fungus cause Athletes Foot? And how to get rid of?
You need to take an oral anti-fungal to get rid of the toenail fungus. You may have to take it for a month or longer, it takes time to cure it. Cutting your toenails often does not help curb it at all. Also by cutting your toenails you are increasing the chance of it so spreading to your fingernails so be sure to clean them when you are done. I'm not sure if it is the same fungus that causes athlete's foot. There are several different kinds of toenail fungus out there. Athlete's foot is caused by the same thing as ringworm and they too are highly contagious and easily spread but can be treated with a topical.(like creams and sprays) You should see your doctor so he can determine which fungus you have and therefore dispense the proper medication to you.Could Toenail Fungus cause Athletes Foot? Are there natural remidies to get rid of toenail fungus?

Natural, perhaps not. I have toenail fungus too, and believe it or not, Vicks Vapo Rub has almost gotten rid of it so far. Still using it. Just take a glob and rub it on your toenail and under it, and put on a sock, and go to bed/work. Do that once a day until it goes away. You would never think it, but it works. Are there natural remidies to get rid of toenail fungus?
Lamisil cream. Had 2 toenails with fungus. Lamisil cream over the toenails and covered with band-aids. Removed at night allowing nails to dry. Used metal nail file to rough up top of the nails. Repeated daily. After 90 days gone! The package does not recommend this method, but I do!

My doctor recently recommended Vicks Vapor Rub, Just rub on and under (if possible) the nail as often as you like but at least once every day.
try the fingers paint!! this what i know since it doesn't permit air to go in and then the fugal will die.
Tea Tree oil or Vicks Vaporub applied to the nails after bath or shower. You may want to file the nails down thin to increase the effectiveness of the oils. If the oils are too irritating you can mix them with some olive oil or aloe vera gel. Keep applying it daily until the nails are completely clear. Go barefoot or wear sandals as much as possible, Fungi are killed by sunlight and dryness.

    good luck!
I dont know but my mom says vicks vapor rub works wonders but you gotta use it for a while . Put it on when you go to bed at night and wear socks with it. Try it for a month and see if theres any improvement..
yes, tee tree oil found in health food stores, also is said to work and there are many over the counter fungal preparation. They need to be applied persistently 2x a day am and pm . and for a long time. The Podiatrist has been treating mine, and after about 2 yrs I have a toe nail that looks healthy.

    Consequences of toenail fungus?

I have fungus on two toenails that I have attempted to treat topically as prescribed by my doctor. This has not worked. The alternative is with specific antibiotics, but their side effects on the liver make them inadvisable for me because of a liver disease which I have had. So I will learn to live with it, but outside of ugly toenails, are there any other consequences?Consequences of toenail fungus?
Your feet may begin to itch, or you could get bacterial infections.Consequences of toenail fungus?
You will need to take special care of your feet every day. Wash them thoroughly with soap and water when you take a morning shower. Continue to apply topical medicine, or you may soak your foot in a hydrogen peroxide solution for about 15 min. Wear fresh dry socks everyday, you may want to consider baby powder or some other medicated powder out there to help keep the feet dry. Take your socks off and let your feet air out at night.

How to cure my toenail fungus?

You can buy topical stuff form the pharmacy/chemist/drug store. If you file the nail on the largest surface (on the top of the nail not the edge) it will also help the topical product to get in. If this stuff doesn't work then go to the local doctor for an oral medication that will work, sorry can't remember the name I only remember that it is a restricted drug in Australia and the doctor has to get permission off the government to prescribe it.How to cure my toenail fungus?
Nail fungus is tough to treat. It generally requires both systemic treatment and topical treatment applied to the nails. Your doctor can help.

I've asked this before but, would you be repulsed or not date someone simply because they had a fungus toenail?

Im only 17 and really self conscious about my big toe. It has a fungal infection in it, turning it an opaque colour. Ive gone to the doctor and have been trying my hardest to rid of it. The doctor says my toe will never look the same again and Im worried. Would you be digusted my someone who has this problem? Im worried to show my toe to my loveer once I find him.I've asked this before but, would you be repulsed or not date someone simply because they had a fungus toenail?
It's a really shallow person who would dump you over your toe--probably not someone you would want to date anyway, since if it weren't the toe it'd be something else they'd find to criticize. Everyone has little imperfections, so what.

AND... if your doctor is willing to prescribe them, Lamisil tablets should get rid of toenail fungus (and athlete's foot if you have that too) permanently within weeks, and in a few months, your toenail will grow back perfectly normal. No one will ever know you had it. They can have side effects, but your doctor can monitor for those, and you wouldn't need to be on it for long.I've asked this before but, would you be repulsed or not date someone simply because they had a fungus toenail?
Not really as I don't have a foot fetish and to be honest it's more about the personality of a girl I look for, not the looks.
    toenail polish!!!
nail varnish or wear a plaster it's really not a big deal or a turn off don't let it make you feel self conscious because it's more minor then you think
i feel the same way about a nasty toenail i have from dropping something on my toe... the nail fell off when it happened and has never been the same since... no more open toe for me... ;-(
lol...if someone truly loves you it wont matter...don't go showing it off...
Absolutly sorry i couldnt go for that, im not old enough to be past that not sure if ill live that long either...

I think your doctor is wrong. I have had Onicomicosis ( toenail fungus) on each big toes and it has gone away on its own. There are products and pills you can take to get rid of the problem. You have to get a prescription from your doctor and they usually take along time to work, but you will get your nails back to normal.

I'm not suggesting you do this, but how I got rid of my fungus was to soak my toes for a long time in soapy water until the nail bed sloughs off. I then cut away most of the offending part of the nail. A new nail then grew back. In the mean time you would have to wear closed toe shoes until the nail grows back.

Have you tried going to someone that does pedicures? I'll bet they see this thing all the time. On the other hand, being a guy I probably don't understand the embarrassment. Keep asking around though, and remember, this stuff will eventually go away.

One more thing, a guy that likes you isn't going to be so concerned with one toe nail unless he has real hangups. You wouldn't want that person anyway. Good luck.

I TOOK MY TOENAIL POLISH OFF TONIGHT AND i HAVE A WHITE SPOT ON THE BIG TOENAIL ! IS THIS A FUNGUS AND IF IT IS HOW DO I GET RID OF IT WITHOUT GOING TO A DR??Does anyone have a good home remedy for toenail fungus?
Doesn't sound like fungus BUT-I have heard from multiple sources that if you rub Vick's Vaporub on it for like a month it kills the fungus.Does anyone have a good home remedy for toenail fungus?
Search Yahoo Answers for toenail and/or fungus. There is another question that was just asked today, and it got a lot of good answers.

I went to the podiatrist with mine.

If you dropped something on your toe, it might also cause a white spot, like your fingernails do, but it is better to think it fungus and treat for it, than hope it is not.

I am now on a yeast (candida) cleanse diet, because candida is the stuff that causes nail fungus, athlete's foot, ringworm and a bunch of other nasty stuff.
    vicks or menthol
Yes, fungus and fungal infections are common with lymphedema, which is what I have. I did alot of research and talked to alot of different doctors. You can treat with different pills for systematic treatment, you can paint on treatment with brushes kinda similiar to nail polish, and there are tons of other remedies people swear to work. The only one I have really found to work is pure tea tree oil, it has tremendous anti fungal components and is not a chemical or pill. You can get it at most all drug stores.

The white spot can be from something else but since you do use nail polish, it might be good to use tea tree oil as a preventative measure. Nail polishes sometimes are sampled by people in stores and could be a transmitter of the fungal infections.

The white spot can be from hitting your nail on something, or a calcium deposit.
If it in fact is fungus, soak your feet in water and bleach. Use the same dilution you would to clean water for drinking. Make sure you rinse and wash real good afterwards.
A big white spot is probably not fungus. The white spots you get on finger or toe nails is often b/c of a vitamin deficiency- or even a bruise. However, there is no reliable home remedy for toenail fungus. Not even over the counter creams or sprays like lotrimin. They can't penetrate the toenail. If it is truely fungus (that's usually yellowish flaky nails) you need to get a prescription from a doc..
    this works home remedy

    http://andycaine.fixmy.hop.clickbank.net
Toe nail fungus can be white. I have killed the fungus with chlorine bleach. Take cotton batten or just a small piece of cotton cloth, folded, soak it in chlorine bleach. Place your foot in the bath tub so as not to get bleach on anything else. Place the bleached cloth over fungus so that it is covered and wet with the bleach. Leave this on for ten minutes, twice a day for two weeks. This will kill the fungus. This works, I have done it.

Has anyone tried cornmeal for toenail fungus?

I saw it on a couple of home remedy websites and in the newspaper. I dont want to screw with LamisilHas anyone tried cornmeal for toenail fungus?
I have not used cornmeal, but am planning on trying the process now. However, you should also know about another toenail fungus remedy that has worked somewhat well for me: plain white vinegar. One website recommends morning and evening application of undiluted vinegar on the infected toenail(s). This is said to alter the alkininity of the toenail bed, where the new toenail growth occurs, to a pH that the fungus cannot tolerate. It takes up to 6 months to see major results, because you have to wait for healthy uninfected new toenail to grow from the base.

Several years ago I had two infected big toenails. The left nail was about 1/3 infected and the right nail completely infected. I got an eyedropper bottle, filled it with vingar, and dropped several drops on each nail each morning and night. I rubbed the vinegar into the nails.

After several months both nails looked better. I kept it up pretty regularly for about a year, and the left nail has been completely clear of fungus ever since. This was about five years ago. Unfortunately I got lazy and didn't keep up with regular application of vinegar, so my right nail never cleared completely. My right nail is about 1/3 infected.

My next step is to try the cornmeal, but I also strongly suggest that you try the vinegar treatment and see if it works for you. See the attached website for more information and testimonials to the effectiveness of vinegar.Has anyone tried cornmeal for toenail fungus?
I heard of Vapor rub too but never tried it.
no my feet are crusty enough!
never heard of cornmeal for it but have heard of people using Vick's vapor rub for it ,our local paper has a column devoted to these kinda questions and people are always saying it works wonders
VIck's vapor rub is supposed to be great for stuff like that. I know people who swear by it. Never heard the cornmeal remedy before....
Never heard of cornmeal. But soak in listerine(mouthwash). This will work. It could take 90 days.

    Go see a doctor.

What is best for toenail fungus?

From your experience is it best to see a podiatrist or buy something from the pharmacy for severe toenail fungus? What is best for toenail fungus?
There is a pill you can take, but a doctor tole me it was hard on your liver, so I didn't take it. This was maybe 10 years ago.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask a pharmacist if there is anything over the counter that is new on the market. If not, per haps the podiatrist can tell you more about the pill. What is best for toenail fungus?
What you have is an infected toenail and it is actually infected with fungus so what you need to do is to go see your pharmacist and ask for an over-the-counter anti-fungal cream. Apply the cream as directed by your pharmacist and the problem should go away in a few days (maybe up to a week). If it still persists, then you should see a doctor who will probably send some nail scrapings to a lab for testing so he can find out exactly what type of fungus it is and prescribe the right anti-fungal medication for your infection. Things you can do to help heal your toenail (and prevent future infections) is to not walk around barefoot (you pick up things that way), keep your feet clean and DRY, and always wear clean socks - avoid wearing shoes without socks. Most importantly; keep your feet dry!!

You can also purchase shoe spray/deodorizer that has anti-fungal properties; this should prevent reinfection. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Toenail fungus is harmless, but it can be extremely stubborn, and it will lead to thicker nails that can become unsightly. Pharmacy remedies are much to weak to do anything more than relieve the problem a little for a short period of time. To really get rid of it costs several thousand dollars (!)
A couple of drops of distilled vinegar on each toe helps for light fungus, but if you have severe fungus you should see a podiatrist.

The standard treatment for NHL, chemotherapy, not only destroys cancer cells but also normal cells that grow rapidly such as blood cells, cells in the hair follicles, or cells in the mouth and intestines. Damage to blood cells can result in neutropenia, a condition characterized by abnormally low blood levels of infection-fighting white blood cells. Neutropenia increases the risk of contracting bacterial and fungal infections. Managing neutropenia is important because, in some cases, this side effect can be severe enough that chemotherapy treatment may need to be delayed or the dose reduced, which decreases some patients' chance for cure .Is an incident of toenail fungus a side-effects of R-Chop chemotherapy?
    No, not likely.

Can my husband give our baby toenail fungus?

my husbad has fungus on his toenail, i just want to know if there is any chance my baby can get it? i want to know how it spreads and how i can protect my baby from catching it. please help! thanks to everyone..Can my husband give our baby toenail fungus?
Yes it can spread. He should use an anti-fungal, wear shoes/socks at all times, and make sure he bleaches the tub after use. I would also change bed sheets frequently, so that you aren't transporting large amounts of fungus on your pajamas. Fungus is very contagious, and hard to get rid of. It spreads by contact with any surface he's contacted. Get the carpets sanitized, and keep the babe off the floor. Can my husband give our baby toenail fungus?
Tell your husband to go to the dermatologist and get that treated! if your baby gets it by walking on the affected areas your baby may get it.

  • I have toenail fungus and im a teenager and i dont want to stay like this, is there anyway to treat it?

I know i bought this toenail fungus killer at walgreens and my mom also makes me a homemade thing to put my foot in it

and yea. i dont want to go the doctor cause i heard of sideafakes and im just a teenager and i want my healthy toenail back. any ideas how to get rid of it ? or what to do ?I have toenail fungus and im a teenager and i dont want to stay like this, is there anyway to treat it?
go to a podiatrist,(that's a footdoctor) they can help you get rid of that. my brother has always had foot fungus and he has to see one of those doctors regularly to treat the problem and he doesn't have any side effects.....his fungus problem just goes away....the over-the-counter crap is most likely not going to help. My 7 yr old son had a really bad problem with warts on his hands for a while...I tried all the OTC products and nothing worked!! till I took him to the dermatologist....and they cleared his problem up in 5 weeks! now....no more warts!!I have toenail fungus and im a teenager and i dont want to stay like this, is there anyway to treat it?
It will be almost impossible to get rid of it without a doctor. Home remedies do not work well in this case. If you are serious about getting rid of it, you'll have to see a dermatologist and probably take pills and use creams for several weeks.

Sorry mate, I wish I could tell you there is a quick and easy fix without seeing a specialist but that's not the case. Your chances of fixing it with home remedies or OTC drugs are minimal. It is not a serious condition but it is a difficult one to get rid of.
Antifungal treatment you apply on like nail polish. Keeping feet clean, dry, and ventilated.

With this treatment can take a couple of months to clear, and even when it's gone, continue treatment must be ongoing.

There's no over night cure, and this topical treatment is effective, and no side effect that you get with injesting medication.
Soak it in Listerine. This takes several weeks, so does fungus killer, homemade stuff and medicine from the doctor. Just be patient.

go to wal-mart, buy tea tree oil in the drug dept, about $7 and a big package of the real Q-tips, around $2 for 200. Use new one and don't ever redip in bottle, after everyshower, and a new one on every affected toenail. It will work. But it takes forever. Maybe everynight before bed. You can get stuff from the doctor that is like clear polish and that will clear it up. I'm sorry to say that I had it a while back. I ended up just painting my nails to cover it up when I wanted to go out and wear fancy shoes.
you cut the nails short=then you soak your feet in Epsom salts for awhile and use a q-tip to put oil on the end of your toenails =you should be cleared up in about 2 weeks
Try an athlete's foot spray. That's what causes it to start with.
you will be able to be that normal girl who bares her toes in her pretty lil shoes once you order this product, ';nail energizer'; by skin energizer, its a toenail and fingernail therapy cream, im telling you because i had an infection on my big toenail so i did some research and came across this website type in skin energizer. i went to the doctor and she prescribed me some lamasil but i did research on it, and was not happy with what i read. i wanted a natural healing and that is exactly what the product is natural and external no medicine to heal one problem and cause another.....i wouldnt recommend if it didnt work!!!!! www.skinenergizer.com

Lamisil tablets have also, in rare instances, caused very severe skin reactions. If you develop a steadily worsening rash, stop taking the tablets and call your doctor immediately.

If you develop another kind of infection while taking Lamisil tablets, tell your doctor. Lamisil may decrease your ability to fight infection.

Do not use Lamisil cream or solution in the eye, mouth, nose, or vagina. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse them thoroughly with running water and call your doctor if symptoms continue.

If you develop skin irritation, redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling, or oozing while using the cream or solution, notify your doctor. Do not cover the treated area with dressings unless directed by your doctor.

Lamisil has not been tested for safety in children.

Lamisil takes months to work (the nail needs to completely grow out).

I personally would try a stabilized allicin product.

This product works time after time and results are guaranteed. This extra strength solution is designed to be as aggressive and strong as possible, without causing irritation.

It worked fast and still works for me!

Are there natural remidies to get rid of toenail fungus?
My doctor recently recommended Vicks Vapor Rub, Just rub on and under (if possible) the nail as often as you like but at least once every day.
try the fingers paint!! this what i know since it doesn't permit air to go in and then the fugal will die.
Tea Tree oil or Vicks Vaporub applied to the nails after bath or shower. You may want to file the nails down thin to increase the effectiveness of the oils. If the oils are too irritating you can mix them with some olive oil or aloe vera gel. Keep applying it daily until the nails are completely clear. Go barefoot or wear sandals as much as possible, Fungi are killed by sunlight and dryness.

    good luck!
