Doesn't sound like fungus BUT-I have heard from multiple sources that if you rub Vick's Vaporub on it for like a month it kills the fungus.Does anyone have a good home remedy for toenail fungus?
Search Yahoo Answers for toenail and/or fungus. There is another question that was just asked today, and it got a lot of good answers.

I went to the podiatrist with mine.

If you dropped something on your toe, it might also cause a white spot, like your fingernails do, but it is better to think it fungus and treat for it, than hope it is not.

I am now on a yeast (candida) cleanse diet, because candida is the stuff that causes nail fungus, athlete's foot, ringworm and a bunch of other nasty stuff.
vicks or menthol
Yes, fungus and fungal infections are common with lymphedema, which is what I have. I did alot of research and talked to alot of different doctors. You can treat with different pills for systematic treatment, you can paint on treatment with brushes kinda similiar to nail polish, and there are tons of other remedies people swear to work. The only one I have really found to work is pure tea tree oil, it has tremendous anti fungal components and is not a chemical or pill. You can get it at most all drug stores.

The white spot can be from something else but since you do use nail polish, it might be good to use tea tree oil as a preventative measure. Nail polishes sometimes are sampled by people in stores and could be a transmitter of the fungal infections.

The white spot can be from hitting your nail on something, or a calcium deposit.
If it in fact is fungus, soak your feet in water and bleach. Use the same dilution you would to clean water for drinking. Make sure you rinse and wash real good afterwards.
A big white spot is probably not fungus. The white spots you get on finger or toe nails is often b/c of a vitamin deficiency- or even a bruise. However, there is no reliable home remedy for toenail fungus. Not even over the counter creams or sprays like lotrimin. They can't penetrate the toenail. If it is truely fungus (that's usually yellowish flaky nails) you need to get a prescription from a doc..
this works home remedy

Toe nail fungus can be white. I have killed the fungus with chlorine bleach. Take cotton batten or just a small piece of cotton cloth, folded, soak it in chlorine bleach. Place your foot in the bath tub so as not to get bleach on anything else. Place the bleached cloth over fungus so that it is covered and wet with the bleach. Leave this on for ten minutes, twice a day for two weeks. This will kill the fungus. This works, I have done it.
