Does anyone know how to cure a toenail fungus/infection with a home remedy. I do know want to take lamisel?

Someone told me that Ben-gay was good for toenail fungus. You are smart to stay away from stuff like lamisel. It takes months for that stuff to work. In some cases, you have to have your blood drawn every couple of months, to monitor liver damage, when taking the anti fungal medications.Does anyone know how to cure a toenail fungus/infection with a home remedy. I heard Vicks Salve was helpful, and also have heard that soaking your foot in a cup of hydrogen peroxide in a pan of water would help. Good luck!Does anyone know how to cure a toenail fungus/infection with a home remedy. I do know want to take lamisel?
use tea tree oil in affected area
I went surfing and found several suggestions. The site listed below had a lot of home remediesfor a variety of things.

These are directly from the site:

Toe nail fungus remedy using tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic and fungicide that will help fight your fungus. Apply undiluted tea tree oil with olive oil to the affected toe nail. Alternatively you can put few drops of tea tree oil on toenails and rub it thoroughly every day.

Using Listerine mouthwash

Soak your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toe nails looking healthy.

Curing toe nail fungus using warm water and natural apple cider vinegar

Soak your toenails for 15 - 20 minutes in basin full of warm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal proportion. When done, dry your toenails thoroughly. Use a hair dryer on warm setting to absorb all the moisture in and around the toes

Tea tree oil and Lavender oil

Put equal amount of tea tree oil and lavender oil on a cotton ball or swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. Tea tree oil is natural antibiotic and lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation

Using Oregano and Olive oil

Blend 2 drops of Oregano essential oil with a tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture on the affected area daily for NOT more than three weeks. Oregano essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitical, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties

AHA creams

Lather AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) creams on to your feet before going to bed. This will flush the rough scaly skin from your feet that is more prone to growing fungus

Hope one of these works. The article also had suggestions for prevention of fungus.
Go to wal-mart,walgreens,cvs,where ever you choose to shop, and look in the foot care isle(wal-mart/by pharmcy) and look or ask the pharmicist for advice. Or call your doctor and ask for advice(let her know you don't want to take lamisel.) If over the counter products don't work you will probibly need a presp.
I haven't tried this, but it's supposed to work. First, you take a nail file and file the entire nail, not just the tip. Then you take a clove of galic, smash it up and rub it on your nail. Without washing the garlic off, put clear nail polish over it and leave it there for a couple of days. Take it off and repeat the process until the fungus is gone. If it works, let me know.

My mother had luck with Vicks' Vapo-Rub to finally clear up her tonebail fungus after trying several other remedies. :)
soak your toe in listerine. use the original not mint.

i used it and it started working, but i never had time to sit and soak my toe so i gave up. if you find a cure that works will you let me know.
Try a yeast infection cream, like monistat. It is a strong anti fungal, and can help it out. Also, try to keep the area dry and air it out often.
And old ';kitchen witch'; remedy would be to soak it nightly in hydrogen peroxide.

However, my old teacher once soaked his foot for a couple of hours in a bleach/water combination (1:1) and it cleaned ';everything'; up... Though, he was a tough old biscuit, so I doubt he would be bothered by anything for long, anyways.
I haven't had any personal experience with this but my mother in law swears by it---she soaked her feet in bleach for 10 to 15 minutes then repeated the process a few days later. She had tried several over the counter remedies as well as oral Rxs with no success so she figured this was worth a try. I don't know where she got this info from, so I would be cautious as I'm not sure of the different types of fungus or what they will respond to.
No. I am a medical doctor. When the fungal infection involve hair follicles, fingernails or toenails, topical anti-fungal cream is not effective. The cream does not pentrate far enough to the nail to be effective. For these infections you need to take an anti-fugal medication by mouth.

BTW, you will need a doctor's prescription since the medication is not available over the counter.

  1. Better consult a doctor or better research on Zeta Clear because it is one of the treatment of yellowing of the toenails.

    1. Toenail fungus can make you less comfortable. It is such dissatisfaction on your part. While everyone walks the street with just flip flops and sandals, you cannot even remove your socks because of the unwanted appearance of your toenail.Nailner Repair Brush Reviews
